Computer Applications:
The computer applications classes are introductory. Clients who complete the training will know how to navigate within the application and will apply these basic skills to produce professional documents.
All Microsoft classes are geared to give the students the practical, everyday functions that people would use in an office setting. We have created classes based on the employer’s needs. Models are based on office setting applications (modeled after Hispano Chamber of Commerce staff applications).
- Microsoft PowerPoint creates professional animated presentations - (4 Hours)
Includes: Introductions to PowerPoint, Creating a Presentation, Drawing Objects and Adding Tables, Outlining and Proofing, Building Slide Shows, Creating Flow Charts, and Print Options
- Microsoft Outlook is your digital day-planner - (4 Hours)
Manage your calendaring, appointments, contacts, email, journal, and tasks all in one program
Includes: Basic Use of Outlook, Managing your email, Creating Distribution lists, Using your Journal, Using Task List, Calendaring, Creating meetings using your contacts and email, Interfacing between calendaring, appointments, contacts, email, journal, and Task
- Microsoft Excel can create databases, mathematical formulas, charts, etc. - (8 Hours)
Includes: Moving around worksheets, Creating worksheets, Opening Workbooks and entering data, Previewing Print Jobs, Formatting Worksheets, Using Formulas, Working with Multiple Worksheets, Enhancing Worksheets, Sorting your data, and Create Groups from your data Print options
- Microsoft Word is your one-stop processing, work streamlining program. - (8 Hours)
Includes: Working in Word, Opening and Closing Documents, Editing Text, Editing Series of Text (Three types of Skills), Copying and Moving Text, Auto Functions/Find and Replace Functions, Grammar and Language Tools, Formatting Text, Formatting Paragraphs, Numbering, Tabs, Tables, and Print Options
Basic Life Skills/Pathways to Careers:
The life skills classes are designed to acquaint the client with the basics necessary for successfully entering the workforce. Introduction to the computer provides the client with the conceptual orientation to the principles of computer use and the vocabulary needed to demonstrate the conceptual grasp. Learning to manipulate the mouse and keyboarding skills are also addressed.

Includes: All students walk out with a completed resume, Purpose of Resume, Chronological resume, Functional resume, Combination resume, Scanable resume, Resume do’s and don’ts, Cover Letter Format
- Interviewing Skills -
Includes: Prior to Interview, Relevant information to know about interviewing company, Tools to utilize to help you prepare for interview, Skills Assessment, Resume, During Interview, How to address your interviewer, Dress, Body Language, Prepared questions for interviewer, Commonly asked questions, Concluding Interview, Mock Interview
